friday/saturday/sunday

i speak about my weekends quite a bit. they exist in this special time and space bubble that my thoughts like to linger back to. my weekends raise my spirit and motivate me into monday, fresh and excited to begin again.  and by wednesday i'm busy planning the next weekend
(yes, this weekend is almost planned already.)

but, last weekend, oh, you were one of february's best.
 coconut ice cream

laid all over a comfy sofa and watched a movie.

i melted away in a bathtub.

i covered myself and my kitchen in 'riced' cauliflower and made an exciting culinary discovery.

i visited the garden center on a drop dead gorgeous day and decided to plant loads of parsley!

practiced my 'jolie.'
cheers!

charting : central texas

i've the springtime central texas trip itch, so i've been planning some day travels. i was read a spooky (not really) story last weekend about a fiddlin' man who accepts a challenge from the devil involving banjos and rattlesnakes.  i'll spare you the details, but the point is, this story was set at rattlesnake ridge in wimberley, texas. well, of course, because i'm me, i immediately began planning my trip to the now infamous rattlesnake ridge.  sadly, it is a fiction. but! i still want to visit sweet wimberley, taste artisanal pickles, buy expensive rocks, and find a diner with hot coffee and pie.

happy weekend!

seasoned change

during my lunch walk this afternoon, i caught myself desperately wishing that the 70 degree weather was heralding the transition from summer into autumn rather than winter into spring.  then i remembered to enjoy the 70 degree weather.

meditation for the week: the nature of timelessness.

spring project development

once more, it is time for spring project planning. usually my seasonal projects involve something outdoorsy, something cerebral, something scientific, and something physical. i've never consciously planned it as such, but that's how the cookie's crumbled. past projects......

outdoorsy :  ghost town daytripping, flower pressing, bird watching, naturalist sketching.
cerebral : reading the bible, starting with the beginning of the dictionary and incorporating each  consecutive word into daily conversation.
scientific : recreating gregor mendal's inheritance experiments with pea plants.
physical : becoming a vegan, fire spinning, eating for seven (7) days in a roygbiv color scheme, taking up ballet.

so, i unveil spring 2012 project number one! i call it
"gluten free me! or: how i feigned celiac disease in the hopes that my skin will improve."

i'm on day two (2) of wheat free living and it's going great, plus it's a challenge that is complicated enough to be interesting and easy enough to be fun.

happy project planning!

field equipment

here's my thing: december was all about hermiting and, january was all about developing the master spring map, and february will see some implementation. part of this implementation is determining what proper tools are needed for a particular project.

1. green tea: detox
2. new paint brush(es): series of paintings
3. raw meat: and assorted other yums for new slow cooker
4. seeds: new 6x6 garden plot
5. ballet barre: practice
6. grimm brick: fairy tales
7. sketchpad: naturalism study- birds and plants
