energized enthusiasm : saturday

this saturday, the handsome man and i are celebrating birthdays, life, and gratitude.
i awoke early and tried my hand at gluten free biscuits with fig jam and honey.
soon we'll be off to barton springs to lay in soft grass on the hillside, daydream at the sky, and contemplate dipping into the frigid waters.

wonderfully, barton springs is quite close to one of our positively favorite restaurants, (seriously, we've been there twice this week already) casa de luz. oh my, such blissed out foods.
later in the afternoon, handsome man and i will be following part iv of a yogaglo workshop.

we love weekends!

storied imaginations

stories that we are given and that we create ourselves dream us up into who we are.  they provide us with order and meaning, examples of ways of living and dying.  they give us our goals.  we tell ourselves stories all day long, everyday.  shouldn't they be the most authentic that they can be? a lush imagination can bring us back to what is truly in our hearts. that storyteller can be sparked by a daily dose of playtime practices like those below.

1. vision boarding/art journaling. clip clip clip glue glue tape. any pictures or words from any magazine, brochure, packaging, advertisements, anything affixed to any other surface like paper, cardboard, a wooden panel, or canvas.
2. sending yourself postcards. no, it's not sad and desperate. the mystery and excitement of receiving a message from afar is positively unparalleled.
3. go for a walk.  i know, everyone says that, but seriously. on my morning walk this morning i came upon a family of deer, a dead rabbit, a tejano dance off, runners, and a brilliant sky. don't run into anything particularly exciting?- begin to imagine what could be going on in all those houses you're passing, and vroom vroom.
4. write. write snips, lists, essays, summaries, numbers, words. i am most fond of my grocery list meditation. i imagine every shelf of pantry and cupboard, what is actually there, and what i want there. so-called 'morning pages' have a lasting and powerful impact on those who undertake a more disciplined approach to getting their stories out of their heads and on paper.
5. eat food that has been cultivated and prepared with care. sensate focus has a profound effect on our story of reality, can form memories, and can change our expectations about the future. take time with meals. the plants and animals that we eat grew to fruition relatively slowly and developing a meditation practice over your food can be an excellent way to slow down as well and nourish.

nourish well : hibiscus tea

Hibiscus tea is an infusion made from crimson or deep magenta-coloured calyces (sepals) of the Hibiscus sabdariffa flower, an herbal tea drink consumed both hot and cold by people around the world. Hibiscus tea has a tart, cranberry-like flavor. It contains vitamin C and minerals and is used traditionally as a mild medicine, as it is believed to reduce cholesterol. Certain health authorities have been working to build awareness around the diuretic properties of the tea, and its effectiveness in the treatment of urinary tract infections.  The perfect drink for high summer, whether or not you have high cholesterol or a urinary tract infection. win win!

intention : challenge : ability

by setting intention, defining goals, we choose our systems of action that we wish to engage in. it's the theater of the individual, the making of reality, and ultimately, by the setting and achieving of chosen goals, the defining of who we are. we draw on our inherent abilities and acquire new skills in order to meet the challenges that we have chosen to accomplish our goals. intent is a package deal that way. this utilization of ability and acquisition of skills is then adaptable to new sets of challenges and goals.  and so it goes, and along the way we engage with the world, while designing and highlighting a complex and unique individual.  that marriage of engagement and self differentiation is something i've certainly been meditating on as of late. what challenges are you going to choose to define yourself?

blog remaster

treasure:mapper is undergoing a revamp, renewal, relative re-envision, in order to reflect my more directed focus on holistic health, mapping mind-body wellness, and hunting down and examining tools for whole self realization. emphasis will be placed on the alchemical and cartological approach to lifestyle design that incorporates health, wealth, peace, and happiness. the great work goes on. ~
